The first few months in a puppies life are crucial for its development. A puppy that has been well socialised and introduced to different people, dogs, objects and surroundings is more likely to grow into a happy well-balanced dog.
As a qualified behaviourist and dog trainer, I have designed a course of four puppy classes to help you on this journey. The classes last approximately one hour in the evening, outside of surgery opening times. They enable your puppy to play and socialise with a small group of puppies of a similar age whilst in a safe and secure environment. Even if you have other pets at home, or have had a dog in the past, the puppy pre-school is the perfect way to show your puppy that going to the vets is not just this scary place where they get prodded and poked. Instead it makes the visits fun as they get to meet and play with other human and canine pals!
I will be on hand to help your puppy start its education with basic commands and games, and will cover subjects such as canine body language: what to look out for, preventative healthcare and teaching home health checks. You will also receive a perfect puppy certificate and rosette at the end of the course.
You will need to be registered at the practice, and your puppy will need to have started its vaccines and be well in itself. There is a fee for the course. If you are interested and would like to come along to our next puppy pre-school please call the surgery on 01449 676966 and ask a member of our team to add your name to the list. When we have enough puppies we will send you an invitation.
